Effect of Intrinsic Pigmentation on the Tear Strength and Water Sorption of Two Commercially Available Silicone Elastomers maxillofacial silicone elastomer in 1978. The Institute established a link with the university of Wales Institute of Science and Technology, and developed cosmesil, a room of silicone maxillofacial prosthesis reinforced by tulle to the non reinforced silicone elastomer.
The results of the study showed that tensile and tear strengths were significantly higher with silicone maxillofacial prosthesis reinforced with tulle, than non reinforced silicone maxillofacial prosthesis.
